It’s April… which means summer is almost here! The Small Point Club is being made ready to welcome another season of members to our favorite place on Earth.
This summer we are celebrating the Club’s “Quasquicentennial” for the 125 years since its incorporation. Some of our scheduled events will focus on celebrating this remarkable milestone: “Small Point Club through 125 years” Fourth of July Parade; our August 6 Club party with the theme “Come as you were in 1897”; and “Corporation Day Cocktails” on August 30, recognizing the actual date of the Club’s incorporation. We are hoping many of our members plan to take part in some, if not all, of these events.
New stairs to the Beach are on target to be completed by June. Improvements to the kitchen (including a new commercial dishwasher), the office, and the powder room are underway. Also, we are happy to share that Bob Kennedy has been successful in bringing back, for the most part, our same loyal staff – Chef Rob, Chris, Cora, Billie Jo, and Sandy. We are welcoming Kim Cox (part-time administrative assistant), Jackson Walker (bartender), and Tom Warren (all-around utility person).
As you can tell, the Small Point Board is not idle during the winter months. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure our membership continues to enjoy the Club’s original incorporation mission “to own and maintain a club house…for our mutual social intercourse”.
Club opening date is Tuesday, June 28. See you on the Porch!
