With the arrival of Daylight Savings Time, we know spring is right around the corner!
The Club might currently look like this…
But before you know it, it will look like this…
With that in mind, thank you for those of you who are making your summer plans at the Club early and have submitted your 2023 dues. One thing we do want to point out regarding your invoice that was sent last week – our billing system defaults to a bi-weekly due date, thus the March 11, 2023 deadline posted. Timely payment of dues is key to the operation of the Club (expenses are not limited to the summer season) but we are not expecting such a quick response as that strident turn-around date. The standard expectation of payment within 30 days is what we really meant to post!
The Board extends a hearty thank you and appreciation to our members who are sustaining members, making contributions beyond their annual dues! As in the past, those who contribute at or above an additional $500 level are offered a complimentary weeknight stay at the Club (except for the first two weeks of August). In equal measure we thank our contributors to the Preservation Fund, which is a 501(c)3 fund, thus tax deductible.
Please welcome Rosemarie Torrisi as the Club’s new General Manager!
The Club Board is extremely pleased to announce we have a new general manager, Rosemarie (Roe) Torrisi. Roe has many years of experience as an assistant manager at Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston, NY and was chosen by the SPC General Manager Search Committee from a strong group of applicants. Serendipitous for the Club, Roe has a home in mid-coast Maine, which she plans to make her primary home and which attracted her to the job. Bob Kennedy is with us through mid-June and will be key to a smooth transition, with Roe coming onboard May 1. Bob’s enthusiasm for Roe’s hiring underscores the right choice made by the Search Committee. For those of you who are able to attend, please welcome Roe at a “Cocktails on the Porch” meet and greet during Memorial Day weekend (details to follow!).
Saturday, August 12 ~ Save the Date
…For this year’s fundraising dinner. As stated in our January “Tidings”, the theme this year is “Closets, Collections, and Creative Experiences”, inspired by Louise Hoffman’s retrieval from her closet, a couple of years ago, of two original Bodwell Spinney blueprints. Please check your closets and other storage places for items you may wish to donate. Experiences are also welcome donations – boat cruises, lessons (fly-fishing, painting, a particular skill?), a get-away opportunity – you name it! Our Event Committee will be reaching out soon to begin organizing your donations.
Small Point Club “Littles” Art Display
Last summer a member expressed a fun idea for an art exhibition of members’ children’s/grandchildren’s work. We would like to make this happen so if anyone would like to help organize the show (perhaps find a location for a summer-long exhibit within the Club – upstairs hallways, library…?) and/or contribute “curated”* pieces (which will be returned!) please contact Martie Janeway (martiejaneway@gmail.com).
*by curated, we mean pieces you personally deem keep-able forever ♡
Happy Spring!
