We’re Opening Friday June 25th! Summer Protocols

On behalf of the Small Point Club Board and Manager Bob Kennedy, I am thrilled to announce that the Club will be open for overnight guests and dining this summer, starting Friday, June 25th. We will follow the State of Maine’s guidelines. As of May 24th, indoor gathering capacity increases to 75% and outdoor to 100%. Should there be an increase in Covid numbers, the Club’s Board and Manager reserve the right to make changes in how we approach this summer. We certainly hope that will […]

We’re Listening! Survey results

The Club’s first use of an online membership survey was a great success! The 239 responses from our 350 members gave us a wealth of information about our members and their feelings about services, past, present, and future. Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond.

Some highlights:

  • Although half our members are 66 or older and have been members 16 years or more, 1 in 5 are under 50, and 2 in 5 have been members 10 years or less.
  • Many stay in […]

ADDENDUM TO 2020 REPORT

In our recent Tidings, we forgot to include Martie Janeway’s report on

Summer 2020’s Speaker Series and Page Terners Book Club.

With apologies to Martie, we present her committee report below.

Small Point Club Speaker Series

The series was at first thought to be a “no go” due to COVID 19. However, at the Board’s April meeting, it was decided to reach out to the scheduled speakers to see if they would be willing to conduct their talks […]

REPORT TO SPC MEMBERS

September 26, 2020

Because we were unable to have our annual Shareholder Member meeting in person, we are providing the following report to recap a very odd and difficult 2020 season.

We decided to share this report with all Club members and friends because we thought it would be of interest to everyone.

The report is organized into Committee Chair summaries, outlining what was done in each of the many areas that it takes to operate the Club.  We hope you will find this interesting, and here’s to the 2021 season […]

Club fully closed as of September 8th

We very much missed seeing everyone in person this summer, but we hope next year’s season will be more “normal” and allow us to welcome overnight guests, open the dining room and Low Tide Grill, host art shows and speakers at the Club, and meet on the porch to savor the most beautiful view in the world.

We will keep our membership informed about our plans, especially as updates to our Club use policies become available.

At present, the Board is compiling a Shareholder update on this […]

Closing Art Show: Serena Hazard

SEE SERENA’S SPC GALLERY HERE

All my life, (so far!) I have gone outside to meander home. It is a gateway to the source of my work. Being outside, I can leave behind the thought of a being ‘in’ nature and instead become a ‘being of’ nature. In this zone the external landscape and my internal experience of the forces of multiple dimensions become inseparable. When luck opens, I am blessed with fleeting revelations of the fierce beauty and joy of being alive. A seed of mystery is planted.

Later, in the […]

The author joined our Page Terner’s meeting! Plus winter Book Club

As a special treat, the author of The Guest Book, Sarah Blake, joined the Page Terners’ discussion this past Wednesday, September 2. Sarah began the session with a terrifically articulated, in-depth explanation of how the book evolved from small bits of ideas she found interesting into a multi-layered generational story. Drawing on her personal experience as a member of a family with its own Maine island, she used the Miltons’ island as a metaphor for the way a family holds itself apart from others with unspoken secrets, […]
