The SPC Page Terners Book Club met via Zoom on Wednesday, July 29 to discuss the July reading of Erik Larson’s “The Splendid and the Vile”. This was the Page Terners’ first ever gathering and it was a great success. We had a turnout of fourteen readers – twenty-five had signed up but for various reasons not all were able to attend. Even so, the conversation was insightful and it was fun to rethink the myriad of details that grabbed our attention while reading this fascinating […]
Kevin will tell us about his unusual art projects, especially the one he is currently working on here in Phippsburg. He states: “The goal of my work is twofold: to provide the contemporary community with an artwork with which they identify while addressing a viewer 1000 years in the future in a language they may understand. Petroglyphs, realistic shallow relief carvings, are made to last for over 1000 years. I design petroglyphs around the natural and cultural imagery surrounding me where I am working. Through community […]
Tom divides his time between Portland and Phippsburg, with studios in both locations. He is an Associate of Centre Street Arts Gallery in Bath, with a changing selection of works every six weeks. He has had solo exhibits […]
UPDATE: Joint SPSS SP Club Fundraiser a SUCCESS!
It was as hot as Hades but people came and they shopped. Almost $1000 was raised. We are so grateful to those who made purchases. Twenty percent of the proceeds went to two good SP causes: the Small Point Club and the Small Point Summer School. We had representatives from all roads, all ages, and men and women. How great it was to see people enjoying a sense of normalcy – albeit with masks! Special thanks to […]

Brady Kirchberg did a fantastic job as our inaugural Club speaker for the season. On Thursday, July 30, Twenty-five Zoom participants (actually more, as there was more than one member present on several of the Zooms) were glued to their screens, listening with rapt attention to Brady’s inside look at how the movie/TV industry functions. Detailed descriptions of Brady’s responsibilities as a location manager, leading him toward production management, were eye-opening, to say the least. Questions from the group were rapidly fired and Brady was […]

Ann’s fascination with art began at a young age. While her mother was occupied elsewhere, she would collect her crayons, tape, construction paper and magnetic alphabet letters to create 3-D compositions on the kitchen refrigerator.
One of her favorite field […]
