Tim Mitchell Art Show Opening

Tim Mitchell will kick off the Club's season of weekly community art shows with a series of limited-edition photographs. Tim is generously donating all profits back to the Small Point Club. Art Show June 30 - July 7  Contrary to what his parents have told people for years, Tim is not a professional photographer. He is passionate about taking pictures and has been shooting since an early age. Tim studied photography at The Maine Photographic Workshops in the late ’70s and moved on to NYC [...]

Rachel Houlihan Art Show Opening

"I am an artist based in Camden, Maine. Oil painting has been a wonderful way to explore and capture so many of the beautiful places I have had a chance to explore. In my paintings I am trying to capturing the feeling of being in nature and experimenting with the creative use of color. My love for the outdoors started when I was growing up on a small farm – and continues now with travel, lots of gardening, long walks with my dog and horseback [...]

Nick Adams Art Show Opening

Nick Adams is a North Salem based artist and graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. Using stream of consciousness as a method of representation, Adams creates work that incorporates both abstract and representational tones. With a nod to the equestrian world beloved in New England, select pieces carefully embody the grace and spirit of horseback riding while seamlessly blending the region's cultural tapestry with the artist's distinctive touch. Artist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time.

Jillian Herrigel Art Show Opening

My work reflects my intuitive reaction to a scene or idea and involves combining color, shape and line until the image feels complete. My hope is that the viewer will bring his or her own interpretation or reaction to the piece. Not every creation connects to its original idea, often different concepts and representations emerge. Artist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time.

Katie Blair St John Art Show Opening

Katie Blair St John has spent every summer of her life in Small Point, breathing in the colors, composition and atmosphere. A great admirer of art from Italian Renaissance to Contemporary, she foolishly was intimidated from taking painting classes because other students appeared to already know what they were doing. Local painters, Frank and Phyllis Mason and Mary Ester MacFadyen became her inspiration. In the 50’s and 60’s she’d watch them pick up an old, wooden shingle and dash off a quick landscape while supposedly watching [...]

Hodie Hazard and Ned Motley Art Show Opening

Artist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time.   HODIE HAZARD It's been the highest pleasure of my artistic life to start working with Ned, learning to throw, hand build and glaze pots.  While we're each doing our own pieces, we're also experimenting with co-creation - my glazing on his beautiful forms.  I highly recommend a brand new journey in your 70’s.     NED MOTLEY  I’m inspired and influenced so much by the images and patterns of [...]

Lasell Family Art Show Opening

According to a history written about the Whitin machine works, the Lasells of Whitinsville were “warm-hearted, sensitive, artistic people, socially gracious and fond of good living.” Although the first two of these characteristics were not ideal qualifications for running a machinery business in central Massachusetts, that is what they did, until textile work went south in the middle of the last century. They supported promising artists and they appreciated art in their own family. Various members of the family have had the opportunity to be [...]

Juliet Kirkham Art Show Opening

I am a self-taught artist, working out of my studio in Berkeley, California. I have always been drawn to watercolor, but learning to use this mercurial and mischievous medium is a recent exploration. I am constantly thrilled with the interplay between water and pigment and the individualistic and often erratic behaviors of watercolor paints. For me, painting is a practice not a perfect - a constant way to witness and delight in the everyday world around us. Artist work is exhibited throughout the week and [...]
