Tess Chakkalakal is a Finalist for Signal Award

Tess Chakkalakal, Associate Professor of Africana Studies and English at Bowdoin College, was one of our wonderful speakers this summer. She co-hosts a podcast with her colleague Brock Clarke calledDead Writers and all episodes can be heard on the Maine Public Radio website. Their podcast is one of two finalists in the Signal Award for Best Co-Host team.

If Tess’ lecture resonated with you, consider voting!
From now until October 17th, listeners may cast their vote using this link.

Winners will be announced October 29.

“We are thrilled to share with you that Dead Writers is a finalist for a Signal Podcast Award in the category of Best Co-Host Team,” said Chakkalakal. “This is huge for us! We want to thank you so much for being part of this special journey. We are up against some big names. It’s between Brock and Tess and Kyle McLachlan and Joshua Davis, co-hosts of Varnamtown. While theirs is a very interesting series, we think ours is better.”

Lynda Doughty’s Marine Mammals of Maine Seal Release

Lynda Doughty’s Marine Mammals of Maine had a very sweet seal release at Head Beach this past week. Many Club members and locals were in attendance for this special sight.

Marine Mammals of Maine responds to stranded marine mammals and sea turtles in southern and midcoast Maine, cares for sick, injured and abandoned seals from all over New England, studies East coast marine mammal populations, and educates about global marine mammal conservation.
