Reception Sunday at 4PM

I am a self-taught artist, working out of my studio in Berkeley, California. I have always been drawn to watercolor, but learning to use this mercurial and mischievous medium is a recent exploration. I am constantly thrilled with the interplay between water and pigment and the individualistic and often erratic behaviors of watercolor paints. For me, painting is a practice not a perfect – a constant way to witness and delight in the everyday world around us.

The content of this show was inspired by recent visits to the majestic Northern California coast. This rugged, rocky coastline is home to beautiful wild flowers that bloom in the spring and early summer despite challenging conditions. They are simple and stubborn and worthy of study. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the coastal wildflowers of Northern California.
